Here's everything we learned from Darren Sarll after the Pools boss spoke to BBC Radio Tees Sport and the Hartlepool Mail this morning.
5. Manager pleased with Joel Dixon's progression but refuses to be too glowing in his assessment
"My style is always based on meritocracy. He deservedly started the game at Yeovil; it was a very, very close call between him and Adam (Smith). The proof is always in the eating. You'd never, ever consider leaving out a centre-forward who scores three goals in three games, so when a goalkeeper keeps three clean sheets it's the same. We just take things game by game." 6. Sarll is confident his side can cope with playing two games in three days
"We've got a really fabulous foundation of character and athleticism. We've been training the group to play two games in three days from day one of pre-season. They spent hour after hour lifting weights and working very hard on their aerobic capacity. They'll be fine with that." Photo: Frank Reid
7. The boss wants to continue working on squad's rapport with fanbase
"I can talk all day about my priority list, number one is uniting the players and supporters. I am the least important person in the ground, really I am. I want the players and the supporters to be the most important people. The connection is fundamental. The power in our ground is our fanbase. If we can just get that spark - and we've started it - then it will be massive for us. Our place is the supporters - it starts with the supporters and it finishes with the supporters." 8. There's "no right answer" to question of rotating a winning team
"I remember sitting at a League Managers Association event with Pep Guardiola. Sam Allardyce put his hand up and said 'Pep, every time I make five changes, my team gets worse, but every time you do it, your team gets better. How do you prepare for that?' Pep replied - 'sign better subs!' There's no right or wrong, unless you win the game." Photo: Justin Setterfield
