The 23-year-old has agreed a month long loan at Victoria Park after returning from a half-season spell at Bolton Wanderers in League Two.

He would have been available for Pools’ National League match at Dover Athletic on Saturday but the match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Last season, White was part of the Barrow side that won the National League title on points per game to return to the Football League.

The England C international was heavily linked with signing for Hartlepool from Gateshead in the summer of 2019, but he opted to join Championship outfit Blackburn instead.

With uncertainty looming over the National League season, Pools boss Dave Challinor admitted he would not be taking any ‘unnecessary risks’ in the transfer market. But the 28 day loan of White works well for the side who were keen for midfield reinforcements following Nicky Featherstone’s knee injury.

Upon signing for Pools, White told The Mail: “I’ve been looking at Hartlepool for a bit to be fair, it’s home for me back in the North East and every time I’ve played there I've enjoyed it.

“I wasn’t having the best of times at Bolton so when I had some contact from Hartlepool around December time, I told my agent that it’s something I’d like to get sorted.

“I know some of the lads well and I’ve played against a few of them too. Even just on the coach on the way down to Dover I could tell the spirit amongst the players which is so important to have.”
