The Irish midfielder has been in fine form for Pools this season with eight goals and seven assists in 32 matches.

And with Holohan’s contract set to expire in the summer, manager Dave Challinor was quick to tie one of his key players down.

“I’m delighted to get it done – it’s been in the pipeline for a few weeks,” Holohan told Pools TV.

“It shows the manager’s intent for next season that he wants to get people tied down so once I knew there was interest in getting something done I was delighted to do it as quickly as possible.

“I feel like I have come a long way in a year and this shows the faith the club has in me so I really appreciate it and I hope to repay it.”
