Hartlepool United’s National League match at Halifax Town has been postponed for a third time.

The match – which has already twice been rescheduled – was set to take place at 7pm on Tuesday evening.

But due to adverse weather conditions in Halifax, a 1pm pitch inspection at The Shay has been cancelled and the match postponed early on Tuesday morning.

Pools will now look ahead to Saturday’s trip to Dover Athletic as they kick-off a busy schedule of fixtures this February.

At 10:15am on Tuesday, February 2, Halifax released the following statement: “Our game tonight against Hartlepool United has been called off due to heavy snow and freezing temperatures.

“We will announce the new date in due course”

Pools midfielder Tom Crawford felt there was only one way to decide the fixture: “Best snowman takes the 3 points!”

@danielhufc replied: “Snow ball fight between the starting 11s to be honest.

With heavy snow and freezing temperatures in Halifax, @_CJenkins95 said: “This time I can see why, surely it won’t get postponed for the 4th time though.”

Ross Milburn was looking for bites as he posted: “Absolute disgrace, @TheVanaramaNL hand Halifax an immediate 10 point deduction for refusing to allow this fixture to go ahead. Their behaviour over the last few weeks has been an embarrassment to our sport.”

In reference to the previous postponement an hour before kick-off, @hallydesigns wrote: “At least we found out early this time.”

@LJames180 just wants the win as he tweeted: “I know it’s not their fault this time but that’s 3 times it’s been called off now, surely have to give us the points?”

Stephen Cooper felt the same: “They should be made to play the game at The Vic or forfeit the points.”
