Hartlepool United captain Ryan Donaldson eyeing revenge at Harrogate Town and discusses why opponents should be 'delighted' going into the game

Hartlepool United captain Ryan Donaldson is wanting to put things right against Harrogate Town in the National League on Boxing Day.

Less than two weeks after being dumped out of the FA Trophy by Harrogate in dramatic fashion, Pools return to the CNG Stadium looking to build on their 1-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.

But after losing 3-2 at Harrogate the weekend prior after leading 2-0 after 77-minutes only to concede three late goals all brought about by individual mistakes, Donaldson feels as though United’s Boxing Day opponents will be far more satisfied going into the match.

“If I was in their shoes I’d be delighted,” he admitted. “We wanted to win all three against them but now we’ve lost the first one so it’s 1-0 to them.

“We’ve got to come back and be a lot better and see what happens.”
