The 25-year-old arrived at Pools last month and has since played and won all four National League games for the club as they climbed to second in the National League table.

While initially on a dual registration deal with South Shields and free to leave Hartlepool at any time, Sterry has now officially signed a deal that will keep him at Victoria Park until the end of the current season.

And manager Dave Challinor is delighted to tie the defender down.

“Jamie has come in and done brilliantly, he’s doing what he wanted to do which is play football,” he told The Mail.

"He’s at home, playing football and enjoying it and everyone has benefited from that.

“It’s something that will continue for the time being and he can play an important part in what we’re looking to achieve this season.”
