With Blyth’s season in the National League North season incredibly uncertain, Pools made the decision to recall Young with the intention of loaning him out again.

The 18-year-old started eight matches for Spartans during his half season at Croft Park but it is unlikely he’ll be given the chance to return this season.

“We’ve recalled Brad from Blyth with the plan of sending him back out on a youth loan,” Hartlepool manager Dave Challinor told The Mail.

“We did that so we could recall him at short notice depending on what we wanted to do at the back end of the season and what opportunities came up. Brad’s situation is quite fluid at the moment.”

Young’s return to the Pools set-up will see him as the squad’s third choice goalkeeper behind Ben Killip and Henrich Ravas.

Derby County loanee Ravas has been limited to just eight starts for Pools this season and hasn’t featured in a league match in over two months. But he remains very much part of Challinor’s plans this season.

“Brad coming back doesn’t impact Henrich at all,” admitted the Pools boss. “Our plan was to send Brad back out to Blyth straight away just on a youth loan to give us that flexibility to recall him after 28 days which we felt was the sensible thing to do given the uncertainty of the league.

"If the situation changes in the Conference North then we’d look at getting him back out but Henrich’s situation remains the same, he’ll be with us until the end of the season.
