Williams’ only appearance for Pools so far this season came in the ill-fated National League match at Eastleigh last month.

The midfielder started the game but lasted just over quarter of an hour before being forced off due to an injury. The game was subsequently abandoned at half-time due to a waterlogged pitch.

The midfielder has since returned to full training and Challinor is hopeful that he’ll be back in contention this weekend as he prepares to rotate the side.

“We’ll be speaking to him and the hope for us is to have Luke get a full week training in him this week ahead of the FA Trophy game against Halifax,” he said.

“Hopefully we can have him involved this weekend. That’s what we feel is realistic and that’s what we’re looking to make happen – fingers crossed that’s the case.”
