Pools are back in FA Cup first round action this Saturday (3pm kick-off). But this time it’s their opponents Salford City who have appointed a new manager ahead of the cup clash.

Former Swindon Town boss Richie Wellens will take charge of the Ammies for the first time as Pools look to upset the party.

And when discussing the effects of new manager’s coming in without fans in attendance, Challinor said: “It’s completely different now and it’s funny how football works because there are examples that are potentially there.

“An ex-teammate of mine, Andy Parkinson, has jumped in at Tranmere and they went to Harrogate Town on Tuesday and won so it can work in your favour.

"You look at Salford’s scenario, Graham [Alexander] leaves his job and they don’t really go on the greatest of runs, they’ve lost games since he left so it can work both ways.

"The new manager will come in with new ideas and it’ll be about how quickly he can get those new ideas across. But every player within the Salford dressing room will be having a look over their shoulder hoping that they’re in the manager’s thoughts and in the team.”

Saturday's match will be available to live stream for £10 and can be purchased at live.salfordcityfc.co.uk.
