Hartlepool United issue club statement following second allegations of racist abuse at Victoria Park following 1-0 defeat against Ebbesfleet United

Hartlepool United have responded to the allegations of racist abuse following their 1-0 defeat against Ebbsfleet United at Victoria Park.

Two separate incidents occurred during the match as play was stopped and the protocol was followed.

This is the second time such allegations have been made towards the club as Pools were found guilty earlier in the season following the events that happened during their home defeat against Dover Athletic.

Hartlepool were charged £7,500 by the Football Association in January, £5,000 of which is suspended until the end of the 2020-21 campaign subject to their future conduct.

This incident could have some further repercussions for the club who issued the following statement: “Following today’s fixture against Ebbsfleet United, we can confirm that allegations of two incidents during the game have been made.

“It is important to state that, at this stage, these alleged incidents are unsubstantiated and will be subject to a full investigation.

“We will hide nothing in our thorough examination of the facts and will respond to any enquiries from any authorities.

“As importantly, once we have carried out a full investigation we will identify any action required and, regardless of this, will not be distracted from our commitment and efforts to promote diversity and educate inclusivity.

Hartlepool United condemn abuse of any nature and we will continue to work closely with the relevant bodies to ensure that Victoria Park is a safe and welcoming environment for all supporters, staff and players.”
