The Wood, managed by Luke Garrard, were on a 15 game unbeaten run in the National League before suffering a 3-2 midweek defeat at Aldershot ahead of hosting Hartlepool United at Meadow Park this weekend (3pm kick-off).

Challinor is close friends with Garrard and is keen to get one over on him following the 2-2 draw between the sides at Victoria Park earlier in the season.

“I spoke to Luke about [the Aldershot defeat] on Wednesday because it was a bit of a surprise result if you look at the table but that’s the nature of this league,” said the Hartlepool manager.

“I always want to get one over on him and it comes from my first game at this level with Fylde and we’ve always had close games.

“We’ll both want to win and in terms of a club, a small club, they’ve done unbelievably well.

“They’ve been on an unbelievable run and it’s there to be broken, I’d love to have done it but now it’s gone their focus will be on getting back on the horse and continuing what they do.

“It will be a close game where both teams will be doing all they can to win. They’ve lost one in 16 so it’s going to be tough, but we’re doing all right ourselves.

“It’s a game that could have a lot of significance going into the final games of the season.”
