Hartlepool United manager Dave Challinor discusses 'disappointing' 1-1 draw at Sutton United and what happens next due to coronavirus uncertainty

An early mistake from Ben Killip gifted Sutton the lead as the Pools goalkeeper’s kick ricochetted in off Isaac Olaofe before Gavan Holohan levelled things up early in the second half.

“I’m disappointed with our performance, solely around the circumstances,” Challinor admitted.

“In normal circumstances coming here and getting a point would be a decent point but we’re at a part of the season where wins are important and we’re at a point where we need to roll the dice and it’s a win or loss type scenario.

“We didn’t look like a team that was desperate to win.”

Premier League, EFL and several National League matches were called off this afternoon amid the coronavirus outbreak – but what happens now for Pools?

“We have no idea,” Challinor responded.

“We’re simple in the fact that we’ll do what we’re told although the lads in there won’t admit to that I probably shouldn’t admit to that but there are people higher up the pay scale who make the big decisions beyond football, regarding the country and we’ll be led by them.

“Everyone will have a different opinion and can speculate but it’s pointless us doing that. If what has been speculated is to be believed then that could be the last time we play for a little while so it would have been nice to go out with a win.”
