The Pools boss admits he has a good relationship with Oxford boss Karl Robinson and often trained at the U’s training ground with his former club AFC Fylde.

But Challinor isn’t holding his breath about being given permission to use the League One outfits facilities with Hartlepool this time around.

“I know Karl really well, he’s from my neck of the woods just the wrong side of the water but he’s been great since he’s been at Oxford,” he said.

“Previously when we’ve went down south with Fylde, we’ve always trained at their training ground and when they came up they’ve trained at our place.

“So it will be interesting but I think I’d be being a bit cheeky to ask them if we can train there on Friday, we might have to look elsewhere!”
