The 20-year-old striker signed from Scottish Premiership Hearts last week and therefore required international clearance in order to play in the National League.

The process can take up to two weeks, particularly during the busy transfer window period though Pools hope to have everything ratified before their trip to Huish Park.

Dave Challinor was keen to bolster his attacking options given the suspension of top scorer Gime Toure and injury to Luke James.

And the United manager’s message to his new signing was a simple one as Keena told the club website: “He told me that he’s seen me play, likes how it is and want me at the club, it’s as simple as that.

Football doesn’t have to be complicated, if he likes me and he wants to play me, then I’ll play.”
