With the game at the Eco-Power Stadium seemingly heading for a goalless draw, January signing Dan Dodds raced forward to meet a hopeful ball from Josh Umerah before hammering across goal and in off the post.
It sent over 1,000 Hartlepool supporters into raptures as Keith Curle’s side remain out of the bottom two.
And here is how Pools were rated in the late win over Doncaster:
5. Edon Pruti - 7
Stepped in well as a third centre-back and found himself quite advanced in the first half. Booked. (Credit: Mark Fletcher | MI News ) Photo: Mark Fletcher
6. David Ferguson - 7
Like Sterry he occupied a high position for much of the game. Was able to cause some trouble with a number of crosses. Clever ball for Finney in the first half. Solid. (Credit: Tom West | MI News) Photo: Tom West
7. Nicky Featherstone - 7
Does a lot of the unnoticed stuff well in terms of keeping possession in tight areas for Pools. A brand new midfield for him to organise almost and did well. (Credit: Tom West | MI News) Photo: Tom West
8. Tayt Trusty - 6
Gave away possession once or twice cheaply in the first half and missed an excellent opportunity to hand Pools the lead. But kept going and made one or two decent runs in space. Subbed. (Credit: Michael Driver | MI News) Photo: Michael Driver
