Pools would have been hosting Chorley at Victoria Park at 3pm on Easter Monday had the football season not been shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak.

But in a time where football pales in comparison to the global pandemic, the Hartlepool players will still be in action at 3pm as they aim to run to help raise money for the NHS Charities Together as part of their “Covid-19 Urgent Appeal.”

With uncertainty surrounding the football season and the clubs themselves, the United players have united together for the cause.

Defender Myles Anderson has raised around £2,000 so far by running for an hour a day over a six-day period. On the seventh day he will be joined live on Instagram with several of his teammates.

“I’ll be joined by the whole Hartlepool family and the aim is to get as much support as possible and hopefully that will lead to donations for what is a great cause and a very important one at this moment in time,” Anderson told The Mail.

“All football is suspended indefinitely, Easter Monday is a big day where people expect to go to a football game but there will be one team still kicking off at 3pm.

“We haven’t seen each other for weeks so it’s great to get all the boys together and running live over Instagram – I’m sure we’ll see some surprises too!

“I’ve been running all week and we’ve had people join us live from all over the world. I’ve ran with an NHS frontline doctor and we’ve had his family join in with that too so it’s been very emotional and inspiring.

“We’ve raised over £1,800 in six days which is incredible but we want to raise as much money as possible to be ambitious and make a big difference.

“It’ll be great if we can get as many people as possible to join in, donate and help us raise that money together.”
