Hartlepool United have released details of their volunteer scheme.

The ‘My Club’ volunteer initiative comes as Pools look to ensure the club is sustainable as they continue to cope with the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic which saw last season ended early, the new season delayed until October 3 with clarity still needed on when fans will be allowed back into stadiums.

Clubs up and down the country are having to contend with reduced income streams after matchday revenue and sponsorship were hit and Pools hope the new volunteer scheme will prove popular with supporters, with a number of permanent jobs cut at The Vic this summer.

The roles have been released on the club website under four areas – ‘communications, business growth, general and match day’ – and they are wide-ranging, from photography, PA announcer, the H’Angus the Monkey mascot role needs filling, programme and lottery sellers, communication roles plus opportunities on the retail and admin side.

The club say the list is ‘far from exhaustive’ and welcome fans to get in touch if they feel they have something to offer on a match day or non-match day.

A club statement read: “Over the last few weeks, we have been approached by a number of individuals and local businesses offering their skills and experience completely free of charge as we progress through the ongoing challenges of Covid-19 and embed our sustainability initiatives to provide strong foundations for the club as a whole and success on the pitch.

“We have also been listening to a large number of our supporters who have told us that they will “do anything” for the club they adore.

“So we are therefore launching our volunteer initiative to further strengthen, and deepen, our pool of dedicated supporters and local businesses who feel they have the skills, experience, time availability and personal commitment to support the club’s executive management in the running of their club.

“What is the club looking for?

“It is more a question of ‘what can you do for the club?’ and we invite you to tell us exactly what skills and experience you feel you can offer us. It’s not just about sharing your ideas, it’s about rolling up your sleeves and helping us get things done.

“We have set out some suggestions of the kind of skills, across a number of operational areas, that our dedicated supporters or local businesses may possess and would be keen to help us with. However this list is far from exhaustive, so if you feel you have a valuable skill set or business acumen in other areas that can support the club then we would love to hear from you as well.”
