Hartlepool United sign former Sunderland, Blackpool and Darlington left-back David Ferguson after turning down improved deal at York City
The 26-year-old defender joins Pools after a successful three-year stint with the Minstermen where he made over 100 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals.
The transfer rounds-off a busy few days for Pools as Ferguson becomes the club’s eighth signing of the month so far.

The pair follow on from the arrivals of Mark Shelton, Timi Odusina, Gary Liddle, Rhys Oates, Josh MacDonald and Claudio Ofosu.
Pools have been in the market for a left-back since Mark Kitching’s departure for Stockport County was confirmed last month. And now manager Dave Challinor has fought off rumoured interest from Scotland and the EFL to secure Ferguson’s signature.
Ferguson started his career at Pools’ rivals Darlington before joining his hometown club Sunderland in 2012 but failed to make a competitive first-team appearance.

Bloomfield is expected to join up with the Pools squad, which is currently 16 players strong ahead of the 2020-21 National League season.
