Hartlepool United sign versatile ex-Rochdale and Stockport County forward

Versatile Bunney, who stands at 6ft 5ins, can play in a forward position and full-back and Dave Challinor has welcomed his flexibility and experience.

Bunney began his career with spells at Lancaster City, Kendal Town, Stockport County and Northwich Victoria.

He made his EFL debut for Rochdale in 2013 and during his time with the Dales, he was converted from a forward to a defensive player, playing 160 times between 2013 and 2018.

Challinor said: “Delighted to sign Joe at what is a very busy period for ourselves.

"His quality, experience and flexibility to play in various positions will be a big plus to the squad.

"In the sessions he’s been with us you can already see that he’ll fit in seamlessly.”

Bunney moved to Northampton Town at the start of 2018 and went on to play 18 times for the Cobblers. Further spells at Blackpool, Rochdale, Bolton and Matlock Town followed.
