Blyth issued a statement on Friday lunchtime to reveal an unnamed individual had tested positive after feeling unwell this week, they had attended the training session on Tuesday evening so as a result all staff and players present must now self-isolate for a fortnight.

It has led to the cancellation of the game on Saturday, which was due to be the first Pools game on home soil in six months.

The Gateshead match will be available to watch via a pay per view live stream but no announcement has been made regarding the Boro friendly.

A Blyth statement read: “Blyth Spartans AFC can confirm an individual at the club has tested positive for coronavirus.

"The individual was present at training on Tuesday evening but missed Thursday’s session due to feeling unwell.

"They have since tested positive for coronavirus, meaning all staff and players present at training on Tuesday must self isolate for 14 days from now, under government rules.

"Subsequently, this means Saturday’s arranged friendly at Hartlepool United has been postponed.

"We are due to kick-off our season on Saturday, October 3, which just falls outside the 14 days self isolation period.

"In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the situation.”
