The Northern Premier League side will relish the chance of adding a second League Two scalp after knocking out Notts County 2-0 on Friday night.

And the match – scheduled for the weekend of December 4-7 – brings Pools up against former star James Poole.

The 25-year-old Manchester City product made a century of appearances for Pools – scoring 15 goals – before leaving the Vic in the summer of 2014.

Poole was one of the architects of Salford’s win over Notts County and said the draw against Pools was a dream tie.

“I’m very excited,” he told SportMail.

“We all got together at a local pub and a TV crew came down to watch us at the draw.

“I think they have a good reaction from me!

“The lads here know how excited I was and they started shouting “Poolie, Poolie”.

“We’re all buzzing from Friday night but I think they are happy for me that we’ve got Hartlepool.”

Poole says it has been a “crazy couple of weeks” at the club.

“Just to be in the second round of the FA Cup is great,” he said.

“It’s been a brilliant time, qualifying for the first round and then the exposure we’ve had from the Class of 92 documentary on BBC1.

“And then when we won on Friday night, things have really snowballed from there.

“It’s been an absolutely crazy couple of weeks.”
