Hartlepool boss Ronnie Moore will never change his tell-it-like-it-is style

The Hartlepool United boss insists he will never try to “kid” anyone if Pools have a shocker.

Moore was brutally honest when he faced the media after the club’s 1-1 draw at Salford City in the FA Cup last weekend.

And the 62-year-old was unrepentant when asked if he regretted being so forthright.

“It’s the way I am,” said Moore.

“I’m not going to try to kid you or the people out there that it was good when it wasn’t.”

And the manger said in one sense he was happy with a fiery dressing-room at Moor Lane because the players were “having a pop” at each other and showed they cared.

“The players knew how bad it was and they were told at half-time,” he said.

“But it’s nice to have a few players having a pop at each other and letting each other know what they thought of it.

“It shows we are moving in the right direction with the feeling among the players.

“It should not be about just me and Sam [Collins] bawling the players out, it’s good when the players are having a go at each other.”

Meanwhile, there are no developments on Pools’ December Bank Holiday match at flood-ruined Carlisle.

Brunton Park is bang in the middle of the badly-affected Warwick Road area of the city.

The pitch is beginning to dry out, slowly, but it’s the offices, dressing-rooms and electrics which have taken the brunt of the flood waters.

Carlisle United were away at Oxford today with their next ‘home’ game scheduled for Preston North End a week today against Notts County.

But despite reports that the Cumbrians could face Pools at St James’s Park on December 28, the club have said no decisions have been taken on their post-Christmas fixtures.
