Hartlepool United prospect challenged after making loan move

A highly-rated Hartlepool United forward has joined a Northern Premier League club on loan until the new year.

Hebburn Town manager Daniel Moore believes his positive relationship with Hartlepool United and his willingness to hand opportunities to young players played a key part in securing a loan deal for Pools prospect Kian Foreman.

Just months after landing a similar deal for fellow youngster Campbell Darcy that has now been extended into the new year, the Northern Premier League Premier Division club have struck another agreement with Pools that will see forward Foreman join the Hornets until early January. The 18-year-old penned his first professional deal last month and will now hope to boost his development with a successful loan stint on South Tyneside as Moore’s men push for a play-off place in non-league football’s third tier.

The Hornets boss gave an insight into why he believes he has been trusted with a key stage of Foreman’s career and stressed the teenage forward’s willingness to test himself in men’s football was a key factor in the move.

He told The Mail: “I’ve been managing for eight or nine years now and I’ve always had good relationships with the pro clubs in the North East and Hartlepool are no different. I don’t care how old players are because all I want to see is that they will come and give their all and that they want to come and play men’s football with us. We’ve had the likes of Callum West from Barnsley, we’ve got Dan Cameron from Sunderland, now the two lads from Hartlepool and we’ve had players from Middlesbrough in the past.

“Word soon gets around that we will give lads an opportunity to experience men’s football. On the bench on Tuesday, we had four youngsters and myself and I’m 40 now. When we have everyone fit, we have a really young and hungry squad that are willing to back up the senior players and the loan lads are very much part of that.”

Foreman will hope to push for his first start for the Hornets over the coming weeks and gain some invaluable experience of senior football before returning to Pools. He appears to have been given some hope by Moore after he admitted he was impressed by the young winger’s debut in midweek.

He said: “He was very lively when he came on. I saw him a couple of months ago and tried to get him then but Hartlepool wanted to keep him under wraps a little bit. But I think he will be a good asset for us because he’s very sharp, has pace, he’s direct, looks to get goals and assists and he will be a big plus for us.”
