Exclusive:Hartlepool United prospect determined to impress Lee Clark during Hebburn Town loan

Hartlepool United winger Kian Foreman has joined National League North club Hebburn Town on loan until January.

Kian Foreman clearly doesn’t have to worry about becoming the forgotten man at Hartlepool United.

The young winger completed a loan deal to return to National League North newcomers Hebburn Town on Tuesday afternoon and he received a welcome text from Pools head coach Lee Clark within minutes of the full-time whistle being blown in the Hornets’ pre-season friendly draw with National League neighbours Gateshead.

“I am still a Pools player and that’s all I want to do, I want to play for Pools,” Foreman told The Mail after the game. “Obviously, I want to do well for Hebburn because this is my club during the loan - but I want to impress Pools and I want positive things to be fed back to them. The manager has said he’s keeping a close eye on me and he messaged me a few minutes ago to see how I got on and what minutes - so it’s good to know I’m in his thoughts and that means a lot.”

Just hours earlier, the 18-year-old had agreed to return to Hebburn after spending four months on loan with Daniel Moore’s men as they successfully pushed for a surprise Northern Premier League Premier Division title win last season. Foreman may have only scored three goals in 18 appearances - but the impact he made during that time left a mark on Moore and the Hornets boss has never shied away from expressing his determination to work with the youngster once again after he moved on loan to Spennymoor Town when his spell with Hebburn came to a close. That feeling was clearly mutual as Foreman admitted he pushed for a return to the Trustmark Group Stadium as his temporary employers prepare for their first ever season in step two of the non-league pyramid.

‘A no-brainer’

“It’s good to be back and I was really pushing for the move to be fair because I wanted to get game-time,” he explained. “I am very happy to be here, I’ve been here before, I know everyone, and it’s just a no-brainer to be coming back here. I was getting good minutes here last season but I didn’t get those minutes at Spennymoor. They were pushing for promotion at the time so I can’t complain but it was a little bit disappointing.”

The main disappointment for Foreman was missing out on Hebburn’s celebrations after they secured the Northern Premier League title and a historic promotion into the National League North after playing a role in establishing them in the title race alongside Hednesford Town and FC United of Manchester. After his brief taste of step two football, the winger is now keen to ensure he and Hebburn are ready to face the likes of Morecambe, South Shields and Hereford during the new campaign.

He said: “I was keeping in touch after I left, I was speaking to the lads about how they were getting on and I was rooting for them to get into the National League North. Now they are there, I just want to get going. Tonight was my first game back, I haven’t played for a few months so I just want to hit full fitness and see what the season brings really.”
