Hartlepool United star Rakish Bingham says Pools in false position

That was the message from back-to-form Rakish Bingham as Pools start a run of fixtures against sides in and around them in the table, starting with Saturday’s trip to Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Daggers are stuck in the bottom two and Pools follow that up with games against Barnet (h), Crawley Town (h) and Wimbledon (a).

Only the Wombles are not below Pools, so a positive points return in the forthcoming sequence will be vital to Pools, who are 17th in League Two.

“We feel we are in a false position,” said Bingham, who scored for the first time since the opening day of the season at Northampton at the wekend.

“We need to start games sharper and we will be good.

“We are a good footballing team and confident we can create chances against any team.

“It’s about getting back on the training ground and working hard as a team.

“Last year we were down at the bottom, we won’t be there again and do all we can to avoid going that deep.

“We’ve a run of games coming up, fixtures we feel we can get a good return from and be confident.”

Bingham would love to score again this Saturday, given it’s something of a home game for the 21 year-old, from West Ham, just along the A13 from Dagenham.

But, more importantly, the striker simply wants to build on that fine run and finish at Sixfields.

Bingham said, while disappointed not to have scored since the win over Morecambe, he had not got himself down about the goal drought.

“I’m always quite positive,” he explained.

“I hope this will be the start and there will be many to come.

“I had two chances [on Saturday] and took one of them – one in two is return a striker is happy with.”

The Daggers are on a worse run of form than Pools.

Their last win was back on September 5, a 2-1 success at Northampton, where Pools went down by that very scoreline on Saturday.

Since then, the Eastenders have not won in six, three defeats and three draws, including Saturday’s 2-2 at Yeovil Town.
