Hartlepool United v Luton: Ronnie Moore tells Rakish Bingham to go and enjoy himself

Moore has instructed the 21-year-old to go out against Luton Town tomorrow to enjoy himself and score goals (kick-off 3pm).

The striker has shaken off a hamstring problem and the Pools boss will look to him to lift a side left shattered by a 3-0 home defeat by Britol Rovers in midweek.

“Rakish will be fine, he’s struggled a bit with his hamstring,” sad Moore. “But he is looking brighter now.

“He’s been carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders – he can’t find a goal, can’t buy a goal from anywhere but it will come.

“He puts too much pressure on himself.

“He needs to go out there and enjoy it, do the things you know you are good at.”

But there is one last demand from the boss.

“Don’t take too many touches,” said Moore, who watched Bingham fail to translate a number of chances in the 0-0 draw with Cambridge in his last appearance.

“As a goalscorer you tend to have an extra touch when you aren’t scoring and that extra touch often leads to a block.

“It’s about believing in what you have done in the past and go and play like that.

“If he does, Raks is a threat to anybody.

“He is a scorer, hopefully who will get back scoring soon and I think his pace will put any back four under pressure.”

Pools are also boosted by the return of Michael Woods, who will come into the starting XI against the Hatters.

Woods missed the midweek setback after serving a one-match ban for reaching five bookings.

He will resume his midfield partnership with Nicky Featherstone, with Moore facing a choice of Matthew Bates or Carl Magnay, if he is to stick with the 4-3-3 formation.

“Woodsy will come back into the side,” said Moore, who is hopeful of making a signing to his midfield.

“It’s how we go – 4-4-2? 4-3-3?

“They are the decisions I have to make.

“If we get players in that we want then we will definitely be attack-minded and have a real good go.

“That’s what we need to do

“Luton can play, we know that, and, individually, they have better players than we have. But if we can stick together as a team, be solid and defend well, then we’ll get opportunities.”

Even if he doesn’t have any transfer success, he wants to see his side get at John Still’s team and believe in themselves.

“I will say to the lads to go and perform, show some passion and do the right things,” he said.

“We had 3,700 there the other night wanting their team to win – it’s fantastic. They want everything we want.

“All it needs is for the lads to believe they are good enough and show what they’re about.”
