Luke Hendrie says Hartlepool United will look to turn chances into goals against Crawley Town

Hendrie was one of four players making his home debut last night, when Pools were held to a 1-1 draw by Barnet.

The 20-year-old loan signing, from Burnley, can’t wait now for thematch against Crawley.

“We need to look forward to Saturday and turn our chances into goals,” he said. “It was a good performance [last night].

“We’ve had enough opportunities to win two or three games but we can put that right against Crawley.

“We need to put last night behind us.

“I think we were a bit unlucky but we can look ahead to Saturday and hopefully get a win and a clean sheet.

“If we had been offered four points from these two games [Dagenham and Barnet] I think we’d have taken it.

“We were really lively at the start last night and it’s important to put teams on the back foot so hopefully we can do that on Saturday and put some pressure on Crawley.”

It was another good display by Hendrie last night, following on from Saturday’s bow at Dagenham.

“This is my first loan move and I’m hoping to show people what I can do,” said the son of former Boro and Newcastle winger, John.

“I’ve played a lot of academy football but I’m wanting to play well on the bigger stage – I’ve been desperate to get out and get some Football League experience

“I’m happy to be here. I’m learning and hopefully I can keep it going.”
