Mark Tinkler had no hesitation in putting Cardiff shirt up for auction at Hartlepool United reunion

The Pools midfielder had his red jersey signed by his Pools team-mates and placed in the auction at the reunion dinner at the Borough Hall to mark the 10th anniversary of the play-off final at the Millennium Stadium.

Tinkler said the cause on the night, Hartlepool & District Hospice was an important one for the people of the town.

“It’s faboulous to get all the lads back together, but even more so to be raising money for the Hospice,” he said.

“I’ve brought my Cardiff shirt which will hopefully raise a few more quid for the cause.

“It’s fantastic to have all the boys here and everyone raising money.

“It’s special for me but if it is going to bring in money for the Hospice, that’s the main thing.

“I’m not upset at losing it, I have a lot of things left and great memories still in my mind.”

Tinkler was not the only star to auction his shirt, Michael Barron, Chris Westwood, Michael Nelson and Ritchie Humphreys all followed suit.

The combined figure for the five tops was £1,500 while Dimi Konstantopoulos’s gloves went for £200.

The event was the brainchild of Pools fans Phil Dunn and Andy Wilson, who were aided by the play-off final skipper Michael Barron in bringing the squad together again.
