The experienced midfielder last played for Pools in the 2-1 defeat at Cambridge at the end of October.

He played the first half in last night’s 3-1 reserve defeat to Hull City at Billingham Town’s Bedford Terrace ground.

Miller had spent time at a specialist rehabilitation centre at the National Football Centre in Burton recently and was keen to step-up his recovery.

Sam Collins also named trialists Ebby Nelson-Addy and Shepherd Murombedzi in the starting line-up.

The pair have both been training with Pools at Maiden Castle, in Durham.

Following a poor first-half showing, the reserves found themselves 3-0 down at half-time in the Final Third Development League fixture.

Hull took the lead on 27 minutes, the Pools defence cut apart down the left before the ball was rolled across goal to Jarrod Bowen who netted at the far post.

The Tigers extended their lead four minutes before half-time, Miller misjudging a looping ball on the edge of the box and sub Ben Hinchliffe ran in behind to score.

It was soon 3-0.

A long ball over the top freed Will Annan and his drilled cross was cleared to Hinchliffe whose shot was turned goalwards by Johan Ter Horst.

Pools got a late consolation goal through Jordan Richards’ penalty.
