Braces from Liam Noble and Gime Toure handed Pools only a second win of the season against a side with promotion ambitions, with Craig Hignett no doubt pleased with an attack-minded display. But who stood out for his side? Our Pools writer Dominic Scurr has dished out his player ratings following the triumph – scroll down and click through the pages to see how he rated each individual in the win:
5. Aaron Cunningham - 9
When Pools needed someone to stand up and just do the simple things right at the back Cunningham was just that man. An outstanding defensive display and played a key role in the build-up to Pools’ penalty which gave them the lead. Photo: Mark Fletcher
6. Mark Kitching - 8
Strong at both ends with some great driving runs going forward and into the box. Photo: Ian Randall
7. Gus Mafuta - 8
Booked early on for entering the pitch late but quickly found his feet and played an essential albeit indirect part in helping Pools pick up the three points with a dominating midfield display. Photo: Ian Randall
8. Jason Kennedy - 7
Saw plenty of the ball but wasn’t able to influence the game as much as his midfield partners. Photo: Mark Fletcher
