Ronni Moore can’t wait for Hartlepool United to get back home to Victoria Park

Pools are clocking up the miles over the next eight days, visiting Northampton Town today before facing Dagenham & Redbridge in London next Saturday.

Give or take a mile or two either side, it’s the not-so-small matter of 916 miles on the road for Moore and his players before they can look forward to a League Two clash with Barnet at the Vic a week on Tuesday.

The Pools boss is well aware of the pain felt following two heavy home defeats, 3-0 to Bristol Rovers and 4-1 to Luton Town, and wants a happy home from now on.

“We need to make the Vic a fortress,” said Moore.

“We need to be winning our home games again.

“There are some advantages to being away - you can sit back a bit more and counter-attack.

“Maybe the players feel a bit more pressure at home.

“But, as a manager I want us to be the best we can be at home.

“Nine times out of 10, you get most of your points on your own pitch.

“If you aren’t winning at home then it puts an awful lot of pressure on your away games.”

Moore says he will continue to look for new loan signings for the Vic faithful to watch.

The Pools manager says he has been frustrated in his attempts to bring in an experienced defender following the concession of seven goals in the last 180 minutes at the Vic.

And Moore has been upset to draw a blank took in his pursuit of a winger.

He spoke previously of wanting a wide player or box-to-box player to bring added energy for his side.

But he has had three knock-backs from top flight clubs.

“I spoke to three Premier League clubs about wingers, but they only wanted to loan them out to League One,” said Moore.

“If there are no League One teams willing to take them, how ridiculous is it that they won’t let a kid come out here to get experience?

“Even if it’s just for 28 days. That annoys me.”
