Hartlepool United's annual final away day fancy dress theme revealed

Hartlepool United fans are set to "turn Boston pink" after Pools announced the latest theme for the club's long-running end of season fancy dress tradition.

Ahead of their final fixture of another turbulent campaign against mid-table Boston on Saturday, April 25, Poolies are being encouraged to wear pink in support of local charities, Breast Cancer and Alice House Hospice.

Pools fans have become renowned for their tradition of dressing up for their final away trip of the season, with supporters making waves on social media and headlines nationwide having travelled across the country as Smurfs, Oompa-Loompas, stormtroopers, knights and penguins.

This season, fans are being encouraged to adopt a pink theme in order to help raise awareness and funds for two important causes.

Pools are set to release a limited edition range of pink themed tee-shirts, with profits going to the chosen charities.

"This is something our fans take huge pride in every year and it has become a real part of Pools identity, especially around that final away day," John Pearson, who is a director at the club and is responsible for setting the fancy dress theme annually, said.

"Wherever we go, our supporters find a way to stand out and represent the club with colour, humour and a real sense of togetherness.

"By turning Boston pink this year, we are not only continuing that tradition but giving it a clear purpose.

"It's a chance to come together behind two causes that mean a great deal to people across our town and to use football as a force for good.

"What makes this special is that it is driven by the fans themselves. This idea simply gives everyone something to rally around, and hopefully we will see a real sea of pink in the away end.

"We would encourage as many supporters as possible to take part, support the charities and help create an occasion that everyone connected to the club can be proud of."
