While Pools will be taking steps to reduce its expenditure during this difficult spell, chief executive Mark Maguire is confident that the club is stable enough to make it through the pandemic.

“It’s not [a concern] and when I say that I don’t mean to be blasé because that relies 100 per-cent on the chairman [Raj Singh] being prepared to take money out of his own pocket to sustain the club,” Maguire admitted.

“It’s no mean feat but I have no concerns because I had a long meeting with him and I spoke to him again when we were heading towards a suspension and kept him in touch with everything so that he was happy with the stance that we were taking.”
