Hartlepool United's match at Sutton United goes ahead as planned as National League make huge coronavirus call for matches to continue

With coronavirus concerns seeing Premier League and Football League suspended, it’s business as usual for Hartlepool United in the National League.

Pools travel to Sutton United as they hope to move into the play-off places with a victory at Gander Green Lane (3pm kick-off).

Dave Challinor’s side suffered a set-back last weekend as they were beaten 1-0 by Ebbsfleet United at Victoria Park.

That was only Hartlepool’s second defeat since New Year’s Day and they’ve never lost consecutive matches under Challinor as they look to bounce back with a second straight away win.

“It’s important we back up a good away win at Solihull with another one this weekend and it’s a different challenge,” said the United boss.

“Sutton have been on a brilliant run and were in real trouble earlier in the season but have had some really good results against the top teams.

“I think they’ve got a better away record than they do a home record. It’s a tough place to go and they’ve got a good team in terms of individuals but also being a really strong team unit. If they’d put their run together earlier, they’d be in and around the play-off places.

“You have to bounce back from defeat, it’s the most important thing. You’re going to lose games, especially with the nature of this league.

“It’s how you react to that and as much as consecutive wins are important, not losing consecutively is just as important and hopefully that will be the case at Sutton on Saturday.”
