Goals from Rhys Oates, a Josef Yarney own goal and another from Luke Armstrong in the first half were enough to seal the three points for Pools despite former defender Fraser Kerr pulling a goal back for Chesterfield in the second half.
The win keeps Pools third in the table going into the bank holiday Monday match at Bromley (3pm kick-off).
Here are the Pools player ratings from the match…
5. Lewis Cass - 7
Got forward well and linked up with Sterry to cause Chesterfield problems. Took a knock before half-time and was substituted at the break. Photo: Mark Fletcher
6. Jamie Sterry - 9
Playing almost as a right-winger at times and was a threat from the start. Won the initial corner for the opening goal and did brilliantly to force the own goal for the second. A superb display. Photo: Frank Reid
7. Nicky Featherstone - 7
Made Pools tick despite having to play slightly deeper in the second half. Photo: Mark Fletcher
8. Mark Shelton - 7
Showed good feet inside the penalty area to get a shot away in the first half. Didn’t see as much of the ball in the second half. Photo: FRANK REID 2020
