Conceding poor goals has been a recurring theme for Hartlepool United this season and it was prevalent again at Barnet over the weekend.

Pools were beaten 2-1 at The Hive as second half goals from Paul McCallum and Simeon Akinola saw the Bees claim three points.

And it further highlighted some key areas that manager Dave Challinor looks to work on.

“They’re poor goals, set-pieces and it comes down to discipline and concentration,” he said.

“Those are areas we continue to work at. You’re going to get unlucky, balls are going to go into the box and will drop and whether your man loses you or you switch off, we look back and address it.

“With the conditions the way they were, I didn’t expect there to be any goals that would be pleasing on the eye and that proved to be the case but the goals we’ve conceded are still very disappointing.”
