Dave Challinor on Peter Kioso's last gasp tackle that helped secure point for Hartlepool United in 2-2 draw against Barrow

Hartlepool United were good value for their point against Barrow despite having to dig deep towards the end of the match.

Pools twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with the league leaders at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon.

But the visitors had a few big chances to win late in the day, one of which was somehow denied thanks to a last gasp sliding challenge from Peter Kioso.

The young defender reacted well to get back and prevent Barrow making it 3-2 with little over five minutes remaining.

“Ideally it wouldn’t happen but there are going to be circumstances where it’s about last ditch defending and I expect my defenders to do that if that sort of situation comes about,” said United boss Dave Challinor.

“Peter got back in and did that very well but hopefully the need for him to do that and get us out of trouble is less and less as we move forward.”
