Pools have lost just once at Victoria Park since the former AFC Fylde boss took over as manager back in early November.

The 1-0 New Year’s Day defeat to Harrogate Town was also the only time Hartlepool have failed to score under their new manager.

Despite going into Saturday’s game against Aldershot Town on the back of an away defeat at Barnet, Challinor’s side can take confidence having won their last two on home turf.

“We are gathering a bit of momentum at home and hopefully that continues,” he said.

“We have to be wary that momentum can come crashing to a stop in the blink of an eye. We’re in a good place and the way the players have responded will hopefully create an atmosphere that will give the fans something to cheer about.

“The crowd and the atmosphere have been brilliant at home and the lads have really bought into it. But we’re the catalyst for that and we’ve got to give the fans something to shout about.

“Hopefully that will be the case again on Saturday and re-energise the hope of getting back into the play-off positions. We want to get on the front foot and put Aldershot under pressure and go and get ourselves in front and try and kick-on.

“Hopefully we can rebuild that momentum that we got going after it halted a little bit last weekend.”
