Our Pools writer, Dominic Scurr, has dished out his player marks – with a look at how the club’s five new signing and trio of triallists fared as the National League campaign grows closer. Scroll down and click through the pages to see who shone and struggled for Craig Hignett’s side in the friendly at Dean Street:
5. Josh Hawkes - 7
Provided a fine delivery for Kennedy’s goal and always looked eager to make things happen though was often left frustrated after finding himself in some good positions. Photo: Frank Reid
6. Nicke Kabamba - 7
Linked up well with Toure up front but never really got the chance to test the keeper once again. Will be wanting to get on the scoresheet with Pools having scored 10 goals already in pre-season. Photo: Frank Reid
7. Ryan Catterick - 7
Killip’s injury in the first half introduced Catterick slightly earlier than expected. The 20-year-old made a few smart stops as Shildon started to create some chances. Photo: Anna Gowthorpe
8. Kenton Richardson - 7
Deployed on the right side of the second-half back three, Richardson kept things under wraps as Shildon started to push for a goal but was never really called into action. Photo: FRANK REID
