The Minstermen ran out 2-1 victors at Bootham Crescent – but who shone and struggled against the National League North side? Our Pools writer Dominic Scurr has dished out his player ratings – with plenty of praise for the new signings and a new triallist. 5. Liam Noble - 7
Rarely misplaced a pass and recycled possession effectively in another impressive pre-season display from the midfielder. Photo: FRANK REID
6. Romoney Crichlow-Noble - 7
The trialist had Pools’ first chance of the game when he fired over from 20-yards inside the opening 10 minutes. Showed good pace to recover and cut-out a promising York attack. A pacy and raw left-back who will provide more food for thought. Photo: Frank Reid
7. Nicke Kabamba - 8
Led the line with power and purpose from the start. Was at the heart of everything Pools did well going forward in the first half and grabbed a deserved goal with a fine looping header at the back post. Photo: Frank Reid
8. Michael Raynes - 7
Some crucial cut-outs as York pushed in the second half and still managed to win almost everything in the air in commanding fashion. Will be disappointed with the two goals conceded. Photo: Frank Reid
