Chelsea will have to fight off competition from Manchester United and Arsenal in the race to sign the Pools goalkeeper – according to SunSport.

Young has spent the majority of this season on loan at Northern League Division One side Billingham Town but could now be subject to a potential six-figure bid after The Blues invited the goalkeeper for talks.

The teenager is thought to have caught the attention of several Premier League big-hitters ahead of his call-up to and England goalkeeper training camp late last year.

Young is yet to appear for Hartlepool’s first team but remains one of their top youth prospects with goalkeeping coach and former Chelsea stopper Ross Turnbull speaking very highly of the youngster.

“At the moment, it’s all potential with Brad,” Turnbull told the club website.

“Whenever anyone asks me about him I always say that if his work ethic and willingness to learn continues as it is then he will give himself the best opportunity to go and have a career as a professional footballer.

“That’s got to be his goal. He’s on the right path at the moment but it’s still early days and this is just some good recognition for the work he’s been doing.

“He’s worked exceptionally hard and he deserves everything he is getting at the moment so hopefully it can continue for him.”
