Hartlepool United player ratings from impressive 1-0 FA Cup second round victory over Exeter City to set up third round tie at Oxford United
An extra time winner from Josh Hawkes saw Hartlepool united reach round three of this season’s FA Cup and book a trip to League One side Oxford United in the process.

It was in truth a scrappy game with neither side frequently testing their opposite goalkeeper but Hawkes’ brilliant dinked finish into the top left hand corner was a moment of magic and was good enough to see the home side edge out their Football League opposition.
Exeter were reduced to 10-men late on as Jack Sparkes was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Gime Toure.
The win sees Pools face Oxford United away in the third round in the new year.

Was quiet first half but improved after the break. Put in a few excellent crosses which almost resulted in goals. Was unfortunate to see his second half strike deflected onto the post before eventually getting the winner in extra time. Photo: FRANK REID
