Hartlepool United started 2020 with a typically deflating defeat at home to Harrogate Town.
Jon Stead’s second half effort was enough to separate the sides at Victoria Park and condemn Pools to their third defeat in as many weeks against Simon Weaver’s side.
United tried to find a way back into the game but ultimately came up short as they dropped to 16th in the National League table, seven points off the play-offs and six off the relegation zone.

9. Gime Toure - 4
Flirted with getting into second gear but has just pranced around on the whole. Fired wide after some good work from Kabamba. Booked for a clumsy challenge and hauled off at half time. Photo: Mark Fletcher
Held up the ball well on occasion but was inconsistent with his control despite a great touch almost set Toure up in the first half. Needed to play Donaldson in late on when in on goal. Photo: Frank Reid
Deployed on the left flank and got heavily involved from the start with some smart runs and neat exchanges of play in the first half. Moved into a central position after half time which limited his impact. Photo: Mark Fletcher
