Pools’ midfield trio of Mark Shelton, Gavan Holohan and Nicky Featherstone are all booked in to get matching tattoos on Friday to commemorate the side’s promotion back to the Football League.

The three have been a consistent part of Hartlepool’s successful National League campaign and labelled themselves the ‘wolf pack’ in reference to their on field chemistry and tenacious play style.

"Gav Holohan texted me saying it’s sorted,” Shelton told The Mail. “Nicky Featherstone made a group chat [on Tuesday] night with me, Gav and himself and called it wolf pack tattoo. It’s happening apparently.

"I’ve got rubbish ones so we’ll probably end up getting it done Friday.

“It’s not sorted what it’s going to be yet, I keep putting in ideas," Shelton added while holding up his phone showing a cartoon wolf.

“I keep getting told to shut up. Gav has got a sleeve hasn’t he so he can handle the pain, I’ve got four and I’ve cried every time.

"Gav wants shading and everything and I’m like no way, I’m getting a little outline! Me, Gav and Feath have played together most of the season and call ourselves the wolf pack.

"We do hunt people down and it started last season when I came in on loan, we called ourselves that and we agreed that if we go up we’d get the tattoo. I’m not sure if Feath has any tattoos to be fair and I told him, it’s going to hurt more than you think!”
