5. How the opposition looked: Luton Town
Luton will be tough to play against at Kenilworth Road this season and played some impressive football through midfield in the first half. They did appear to tire after the break, though, as Boro took control of proceedings. Striker James Collins provides a physical threat upfront while the hosts also caused Boro problems from set-plays. Photo: Harriet Lander
6. Tactical battle
The visitors were overran in midfield after taking the lead, as Luton's midfield diamond forced Boro to retreat. Woodgates's side looked a far better unit in the second half, though, as they pressed higher up the pitch and didn't allow the Hatters as much time on the ball. Photo: Harriet Lander
7. What the managers made of it: Jonathan Woodgate
“Unbelievable. What a game of football,. It was eventful, especially in the second half, we really went out to win the game. I thought we were excellent, especially how we controlled it in the second half." Photo: Harriet Lander
8. Graeme Jones (Luton)
"Overall I am pleased with the group, pleased with some of the quality as well first half, both technically and tactically. I just think second half we had to dig in, we lost our way a little bit and then managed to rally with the character that’s in the dressing room." Photo: Harriet Lander
