Warnock’s priority is to bolster his attacking options, with the Boro boss admitting he wants to sign three new forward players this summer.
The Teessiders also need to sign a new first-choice goalkeeper, and have been looking at wide players who could be available.
With transfer gossip starting to increase, Boro have been linked with several players in the last few weeks, with Warnock looking to seal some early agreements.
The Teessiders will be looking at players who are set to become free agents, as well as players who could join the club on loan, with Warnock admitting the club won’t be spending ‘stupid money.’
We recently asked supporters on our Middlesbrough FC – Hartlepool Mail Facebook page to name some realistic targets who they thought Boro could sign this summer.
Here are some of the players who were mentioned.
1. Junior Hoilett (Free agent)
A player who Warnock knows well from their time together at Cardiff. It was announced earlier this month the 30-year-old had left the Cardiff City Stadium after five years at the Championship club. Photo: Charlotte Tattersall
2. Alex Mowatt (Barnsley)
Barnsley's captain is still yet to sign a new deal at Oakwell and will surely have plenty of admirers. The 26-year-old has been excellent for the Tykes this season. Photo: Clive Rose
3. Billy Sharp (Sheffield United)
Boro have been linked with the Sheffield United captain before. The 35-year-old still has a year left on his contract at Bramall Lane. Photo: Pool
4. Jerry Yates (Blackpool)
If the 24-year-old doesn't win promotion via the play-offs with Blackpool, there will surely be several Championship clubs interested in him. Yates has scored 20 goals in League One this season. Photo: Catherine Ivill
