Middlesbrough target Lawrence Shankland insists he isn’t being distracted by transfer talk during the January transfer.

The striker, who has netted 26 goals for Dundee United already this term after joining from Ayr United, is reportedly attracting interest from the Riverside Stadium this month.

Reports in Scotland suggested that Boro had joined the race for the Scotland international – with Celtic, Rangers and Nottingham Forest also believed to be interested in the striker.

But Shankland is failing to be deterred by the speculation surrounding his future, and is instead focusing on the short-term and scoring goals.

“All I’ve got in my mind is to keep scoring and see what I can get,” he said.

“I hope I do but it’s not as easy as going out there and scoring every week but I’m just happy to see them going in now and hope to continue that form.”
