Boro will travel to Preston on Wednesday and Warnock says Boro don’t have any fresh injury concerns ahead of the game at Deepdale.

Dijksteel has missed the Teessiders’ last two games against Swansea and Stoke but has returned to training after suffering an injury setback.

When asked about the defender, Warnock told the Mail: “He’s training, we are just working out at the moment when we are going to let him sprint, whether it will be Thursday or whether we are going to leave it until Friday.

“We’ll make a decision on Saturday if it’s worth it or whether we need to give him a few more days because we have another game next mid-week as well.”

Preston are 15th in the Championship ahead of Wednesday’s match, four points behind Boro, and Warnock is expecting a difficult game against Alex Neil’s side.

"I watched a game ten days ago, Bournemouth vs Preston and I’ve never seen a better performance than that,” said Warnock when discussing Preston’s 3-2 win.

“The passing was unbelievable against Bournemouth and I just thought wow! I turned it off at 3-0 and they won 3-2. I thought they were as good a side as I’ve seen this season.

“But I would say at places like Middlesbrough, Preston, fans make a difference. When you go out of the tunnel at Preston it does give them that bit more.

“When we can get a few back, hopefully we can get down to tier two and have some back by Christmas.”
