National League North side Spennymoor Town opened its door to the Austrian national team ahead of their international friendly with England at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium.

The Brewery Field hosted the likes of soon-to-be Real Madrid defender David Alaba, former Newcastle United loanee Valentino Lazaro and ex-West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic as they prepare to face Gareth Southgate’s side.

The Three Lions and their opponents are planning for Euro 2020, which officially gets underway on June 11. Southgate’s men will compete in Group D with Croatia up first before facing Scotland and Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, Austria go up against North Macedonia, the Netherlands and Ukraine in Group C.

Austria’s visit to Teesside is one of two matches to take place at the home of Middlesbrough with Romania next up on Sunday for England.

Indeed, it is not the first time ambitious Spennymoor have welcomed an international outfit.
