It’s transfer deadline day – that means that when the clock strikes 11pm tonight, Middlesbrough and their Championship rivals won’t be able to conclude deals until the summer window.
That is, of course, barring any late deal sheet drama where clubs are permitted to make a signing after the deadline if the required paperwork has been completed.
It looks like it could be a busy day for Middlesbrough, and reports from Sky Sports suggest they could be chasing ex-Cardiff City and Wolves winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.
He’s currently a free agent, after leaving the Bluebirds back in September.
The Teessiders have been tracking Bristol City frontman Famara Diedhiou over the last few weeks, yet the 28-year-old looks likely to stay at Ashton Gate.
Diedhiou will be out of contract at the end of the season but the Robins are willing to risk losing him for free in the summer.
There was also talk of Britt Assombalonga moving to City before the deadline, with the Boro captain’s contract set to expire in a less than six months time.
And as the clock ticks ever closer to 11pm, we’re taking you through the latest rumours surrounding Middlesbrough and their second-tier rivals.
